Escape the hustle and bustle of the busy streets of Shanghai at Dragon Space Studio. Founded by Xiaohui 2 years ago the studio can be found in the heart of the Former French Concession and down one of the many beautiful little alleyways on Julu lu. We’ve gathered a range of very talented teachers and built a community of yogis. Xiaohui built the studio on her passion for fitness and routine to create a space for the community.
With a focus on pre and postnatal yoga the studio also offers a variety of classes including healthy back and hip opening yoga, LGBT and yoga for men. As well as an array of workshops including baby massage, belly painting, first aid and sleep training.
Prenatal Yoga focuses on poses for pregnant women, in order to increase strength and flexibility, develop proper breathing and relaxation techniques for an easier labor. Suitable for Mommies to be 14 weeks+
Postnatal yoga helps you reconnect with your body, bringing yourself back to your center physically and mentally through asana and breathing techniques. This class is suitable for Mommies 6-9 weeks after giving birth.
Healthy Back Yoga
Ease your pain and get stronger. Healthy back yoga is great for working on flexibility and core stability, correcting posture, and breathing - all of which are necessary for a healthy back. Techniques are used to relieve tired and tense back muscles through stretching and strengthening.
Hip Opening Yoga
Loosen tight hips, improve your range of motion and circulation, alleviate back pain with our hip opening yoga classes. Find release through awareness and use of the hips. Move your hip joint through its entire range of motion, improve alignment and release all stress and negativity. through stretching and strengthening.
Yoga for Men
A class cultivating brotherhood. Expect powerful, flowing sequences connecting your inner warrior. Yoga for men is a style focusing specifically on the male body and targeting common areas of tension, shoulders, hips and hamstrings.
Whatever your body type, size or shape. Yoga is a safe, non-judgmental space for everyone to explore ways to feel more relaxed, be stronger and get fitter. This beginner’s class will help you release your mind and calm your heart.
Founder of Dragon Space Studio & Yoga Teacher
Xiaohui specialises in Yoga Basic, fertility, prenatal , postnatal, family yoga, Yin Yoga & Sound healing teaching. Apart from teaching yoga, she also works closely with local nurses and doctors to border her knowledge in order to help mums prepare for labour, Lamaze birth, with breastfeeding, infant care, pelvic floor rehabilitation, postpartum depression , infant and child first aid so on. Professional, safe, warm and loving is her style of teaching.
Serena holds a master degree in Psychology and Cognitive Science, is a mum of two beautiful baby girls, a Registered Yoga teacher (200RYT) with Yoga Alliance and a Health Coach living in Shanghai.
She was introduced to Yoga in Shanghai thanks to her first teacher Bela Lipat, who transmitted to her the passion and devotion for the Ashtanga tradition. It only took a few years before she made her own way to Mysore, India to study at KPJAYI with Saraswati Rangaswamy, daughter of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Further studies led her to the traditional Gurukula environment to study periodically with her teacher Vijaya Kumar Manja in South India. Here she had the chance to further deepen her practice and her knowledge in the study of Sanskrit, traditional Yoga philosophy and chanting. In the last years inspired by her two pregnancies and having seen first hand the positive benefits of yoga practice for pregnancy, for the birthing process and for postnatal recovery, Serena has been working with mums-to-be and new mamas.
Serena has completed a 200 hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga teacher training certification with John Scott,a 50 hour Ashtanga Yoga teacher training certification with Bela Lipat, 200 hrs Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training approved by YA, 100 hrs Pre & Post Natal Yoga Teacher Training. Since 2015 she is registered with Yoga Alliance as RTY200
Serena strongly believes, through devotion and commitment, in the trans-formative power of this practice and she is grateful now to share her experience with her students.
Regina started practicing yoga in 2008 and teaching since 2014 after returning from India where she studied yoga and received her teaching certificate. Influenced by her teachers, environment and travels she aims to bring greater awareness to both mind and body and give a sense of empowerment to each of her classes. She believes that people should always see the best version of themselves, grow spiritually, discover their mind and body and get inspired.
Practicing Yoga for the last year Yan has recovered from health issues as well as teaching her valuable tools for coping with stress and dealing with challenges she’s been faced with in life. Yan practices the holistic yoga tradition of Siddhas such as Babaji (as mentioned in the book ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ by Yogananda) as well as asana, pranayama, meditation and mantra practices on a daily basis.
She is the owner of two wechat public accounts that cover topics on yoga, physical health, nutrition and causes of chronic illnesses as well as how to truly heal. She loves bringing health, peace and joy to people in her teaching.
Jill is the studio manager of Dragon Space. Before becoming studio manager she worked in the education industry for seven years. She managed and educated more than 300 students. She used to be an excellent primary school teacher. Her rich experience in teaching and management has injected new strength into Dragon Space. She is full of positive energy and delivers it to everyone around her.
